Summer Fun

Brookelyn and Paige at the swim meet.

Lauren and Nathan playing in the pool.

Naters reading a book until complete exhaustion took over.

Life is busy right now. We're still working through the job things with Paul's job.

My grandma had a heart attack on Monday morning and I've been busy helping with that. She had a heart catheterization this morning and everything looks great. So, she's home and resting well.

I told you I'd be back to tell you about how God is doing things for us this week. As you know, we took a large pay cut when Pepsi changed the routes around and restructured the way they do everything at our plant. We already live on a pretty tight budget. (TOTALLY not a complaint. Just a fact.) God has always taken care of us and continues to do so. I'm honestly not living in fear or frustration. I have total peace that God is in control.

Last week, someone came to me and handed me some money. I thought maybe this person had heard through the grape vine about what was going on at our house. Said person had no idea. God is in control.

A day later, the phone rang. Well, let me back up. My dear friend, Julie, owns the local children's book store. She's been running a contest for the last month about the new Kit Kittredge: An American Girl movie that came out last week. If you stopped by the store, went to the AG club meeting or answered questions on her blog, you got to put your name in for the drawing. There were MANY entries. Lauren's name was drawn.

Last week, I told the girls that we would not be able to go to the movie as it was in the next town over and not only could I not really spend the gas money to go. I coldn't afford the movie tickets either. We'd been talking about this movie for several months. They were both gracious and understood why. The prize?!? Yep. Julie took the winner and a friend (I had to strongly suggest the friend be her sister to which she was fine about.) to the movie, bought their tickets and got them a snack and drink! Guys. God was real to my girls yet again. It was one more way to show them that God lets us even do fun things and HE provides for it when we can't! They did NOT take this movie trip for granted. They were both jumping up and down and were so thrilled to get to go. They loved the movie and had a fantastic time. (THANK YOU, Julie!!! You were used by God!)

God is good ALL of the time. We know this very well.

Yes, God is good ALL the time! I try to point out to my kids all the time how God cares about the details in our lives. It's so important in leaving a legacy.

glad your g-ma is doing okay. I hate to hear that with everything else going on.

These are great, no remarkable stories. It's wonderful as an adult to see God provide, but I think even more powerful to a child. I can remember situations like that growing up when mom and I prayed for something specific and watched God answer in only a way that He could. I would take the memory of those acts of God over wealth any day. Thanks for sharing!

Nothing is like being a first generation Christian- seeing God work with your own eyes. Those messages on first, second and third generational Christians had a profound effect on my life. From that time on, I longed to always be a first generation Christian and wanted that for my girls also. Good blog, Brit.
