Our first "I Love You" was in mid August. We set the date for our wedding in early September, for September of the next year. My parents and I went to a bridal shop that was going out of business and bought the first dress I tried on. I tried on more, but kept going back to the first one. It was HUGE on me. My mom had a friend that owned a bridal shop and she completely took the dress apart and made it to fit me. She also added over 1,000 sequins to it.
My "rule" was always that I wanted to date the guy I was going to marry for over a year so that we had all of the holidays and birthdays together, to see how we could work those details out. Paul's family always does things the same way on holidays, so it made it really easy to adapt to, with my family.
Our big dates were always that we would drive around to all of the county/state parks and talk. I cherish those memories. We still do that when I get to choose our date and we have time.
We were making wedding plans for all of that time, but Paul didn't want to tell his mom until I had my engagement ring. It was so hard not to tell her. I spent almost every day at her house for at least part of the time. We almost always ate dinner with her. As most of you know, it's so hard for me to keep secrets and especially something that exciting. I'm glad I got to share it with my mom. It'd have killed me to not tell her what was going on.
Tomorrow, or the next time I can, I'll share our engagement story.

I'm enjoying reading your gush-fest. I've never heard your story either.
