Part 2 of my Mush-fest

I actually met Paul at the grocery store. He worked there. I was in high school and I had a friend that worked there. I used to go in and see him and would almost always see Paul while I was there. After a while, Paul knew my name and would tease me every time he'd see me there. One time he was working as a cashier and he let my coupons get swallowed in the conveyer belt. I found great pleasure in teasing him relentlessly about that. If you know him, you know he's a little shy and it really bothered him.

Jump ahead about 2 years....

One night, on the way to bible study, I was praying. (I did this often when I was driving) God brought him to my mind. I began praying for him and told God that if I saw him that night, I'd invite him to bible study with me. I'd seen him a lot that summer, driving around town, so I knew it'd be possible to see him. Of course, just a few minutes later, he was honking his horn w/ his arm out the window, waving at me as he went past me the other way. (Do you ever pray and ask God for something, then wish you hadn't because you lost your nerve?....EXACTLY where I was!)

After bible study, I took a friend and we went looking for him. I didn't find him. So, we went back to the church and another friend went with me. We finally found him. He pulled up next to me at a stoplight. I told him to follow me home. (At that time, I was living with my Grandma just down the street from his house, so he knew where I meant) He followed me there and we began talking. I invited him (and his girlfriend) to bible study. He told me he'd come, but that his girlfriend would have to work and she couldn't. He found out I was living with my grandma to help her out and that I did most of the cooking. He teased me that he couldn't believe that I hadn't burn down the house. I informed him that I could cook just fine, thank you, and invited him and his girlfriend to dinner a few nights later. Well, again, he said he'd come, but she wouldn't. So, he did. I went all out. It took me all day. (I look back on that and realize how rediculous it was that it took me all day to cook!) Anyway, I made Brock and Grandma eat on the front porch so that we'd have the kitchen to ourselves. hehe!

We spent the next three nights talking on my Grandma's front yard. We talked about everything from salvation (he wasn't saved and had only been to church once in his whole life) to our families, to our friends, and school, etc. We read the bible together and he told me how unhappy he was in his relationship and that his girlfriend was pushing marraige and he had no desire to do anything like that.

He broke up with his girlfriend soon after that and also got saved. He went to church with me and saw some plays that were special to that one Sunday morning. They really spoke to him and he was saved about 4 days later.

We spent time together every day. We were talking marraige about 6 weeks after that meal I cooked him. We began looking at rings and set the date.

More later.....
