Happy 39th Anniversary to the parentals!

My parents are not anniversary sharers. I like that. Their philosophy (which I totally, wholeheartedly agree with) is that anniversaries are THEIRS. It belongs to them and is not meant to be shared with others. They don't want parties and celebrations. They're very much still in love, but like to keep it between themselves.

Saying that, Grandma felt the need to have a cake made for their anniversary. I think it was mostly so she could have a reason to give Lauren a little money for making it and being part of it. So, Lauren slaved over this cake in the midst of an incredibly hectic week. She had a final week of play practice amounting to at least 3 hours every night, piano lessons, testing for homeschooling, she made a birthday cake for a friend in there as well. It was craziness, but she was glad to do it.

Here is her creation for Nana and Grand-dad....

Their wedding colors were yellow, so Grandma requested yellow. It was Lauren's idea to do something different and put the flowers on the side. I liked it. Creative and different. The epitome of my girl.
