New Year's Eve

I can't believe it's already the end of 2006. Soooo much has happened this year. Some of the most amazing things have happened to me and some of the worst things have happened all in one year. The most encouraging thing is to know that GOD knew it would all happen and that all of those things, good and bad, would be a for an eternal purpose and would draw me yet closer to HIM through it.

My dear, sweet, precious son was one of the best things to ever happen to me. To hear his cry for the first time was beyond words that I can share. He is one of the biggest joys in my life. (even when I lack sleep) I remember that when he let out his first cry, I sobbed and sobbed. The anesthesiologist (I had a c-section) bent over worriedly and asked me what was so wrong. It took me a moment to tell her that NOTHING was wrong, that this precious baby of mine was one of God's greatest gifts to me.

My dad's declining health has been one of the hardest things I've ever had to go through. I know we've just started, but a once very strong, agile man is no longer that. It's been very very hard to watch him deteriorate physically. The great thing is knowing and watching his spiritual health remain as strong and agile as ever. He has always been a solid rock in my life.

My brother's bad choices have been very hard for me too. The good things that have come out of it, though, have been what's helped carry me through it. It's caused me to deapen my prayer life even more. It's definately drawn me closer to God. It's caused me to grow closer to my sister-in-law. While we've always had a good relationship, it's gone deaper and more meaningful and just all around better.

I look forward to what God has for me in 2007. Some of it I'm scared of, but I know that GOD is with me, no matter what.

Aren't you glad God is in control of our lives and the timing of things. If we could see the future we would no doubt change things but would also not experience all God has for us. I pray that your family will experience God's grace and draw all of you together. I have been thinking of things I want to do differently this year and one of them is to start a daily journal. So often God does something in my life but it doesnt take only before I forget. I want to leave my children with evidences of God in my life. Have a great 2007.
