She's in the teen group at church now and is growing up right before my eyes waaaaay faster than I want her to. THAT is painful. Of course, I want her to grow up but does it have to happen so FAST?!??!?! ugh!
Our teen department is involved in an organization that provides Quiet Times, camp opportunities and also this competition of sorts to help the kids develop and perfect ministry skills. If I were being completely honest, before she became part of the teen group, I really was not looking forward to that part and all it required. If I'm still being honest, some of it is STILL hard. BUT, she loves it. I love it. It's been so great for her, for me, and for us as a mother/daughter team. I can definately see some spiritual growth. I can see some personality growth. I can absolutely see ministry growth. Her teen group is definately not like mine was. We had a LOT of fun. BUT, she's having a LOT of fun too. I LOVE that it's so ministry minded. (Mine was too!)
She chose to compete in 5 areas for this competition. Puppet Team, Drama, Kazoo Band (Ok, she didn't have a choice, EVERYONE has to do it, but it's totally fun and funny.), Singing Quartet, and Quiz Blitz. (They're asked questions about the Bible and they have to answer them as a team and are scored and get points for their team.)
Lauren and her groups that's she's part of progressed in all five of her events from Area, to Regional. They qualified in all 5 events from Regionals to go to camp this summer and compete in Internationals. She is BEYOND excited about it. Below are some pictures of some of the events that's she is/was part of.
"Diooma (Alca Indian) and Jim Elliott (Missionary who was shot by the Alca tribe that he was trying to reach out to.)"
Kazoo Band!
