Because of a friend who has quadruplet boys, I have found several blogs of moms with multiples. It's so interesting to me how these moms even exist with more than one baby or toddler.
Then I found another blog about a family that has overcome great odds. The wife has Cystic Fybrosis and she became pregnant and had their baby at just over 24 weeks. I found that blog right after the baby was born. The mom had a double lung transplant and is doing really well. The dad is on staff at a church where they live and their faith is just huge. The baby was just discharged from the hospital last week and didn't even come home with an apnea monitor. As an aunt to 28 wk preemies 8 years ago, I think that's amazing!
I've been following several blogs about babies who are born with Trisomy 18. Most of the babies died within hours or days of being born, but some have lived as long as 4+ months. While it's sad to read about these precious little lives ending, I'm amazed at the faith these women (and families) have. It's incredible.
About 2 months ago, I found a blog about a family that are missionaries in Mexico. She was pregnant (and since had him) with her 11th child then. About 3 days ago or so, her husband was diagnosed with cancer. It's a very poor prognosis. He's in surgery right now to see the extent. I can't imagine what the whole family is going through. As a wife to a man who is the youngest of 12 children, this blog was initially interesting to me. I've since found out she's a homeschooler (although not surprised given they're in a rural part of Mexico). My father-in-law also died of cancer when Paul was not even 2 years old.
If any of these blogs interest you, let me know and I'll email you the links to them.
I'm really tired today. Brookelyn had me up again last night. She's still running a temp. Nathan had his for almost a whole week. I'm hoping hers ends quicker than that. I suppose that makes me sappier than normal. (Ok, I know it does.) None of the plans I made for today worked out right. It's ok. In the whole scheme of life, none of it mattered. I was watching a video on Jen's (the quad momma) blog last week. Her husband, she, and the 4 boys were on a road trip to surprise her parents for their anniversary. Part way there (as in hours into the trip), their van broke down. She's videotaping the boys in their car seats and talking to each one of them and telling us what's going on. At the end of the short video, she says (paraphrasing here) that when it comes to eternity, this trial that they were in didn't matter. She is so right. I have since had a conversation similar to that with Lauren. Really, when it comes to eternity, what does matter? None of this "stuff"! The ONLY thing that matters, in the end, is whether or not we have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and know him as our Savior. Some day, I'll meet these other bloggers in heaven because I probably won't meet them on earth. They have no idea how much their lives have impacted me for God's glory.
I went to bed with Nathan to try to take a nap. I could not sleep. The missionaries came to my mind and I just felt I should lay there and pray for them. I opened my eyes and looked at my precious boy beside me and just felt so thankful.

He's perfect. He's healthy. He's funny. He's cute. I felt so blessed. It was hard not to cry. (Again, I'm so tired, I cry easily.)

He can be a real stinker sometimes, but I suppose it comes from being a boy. Or maybe he gets it from his dad. (hehe!) Ok, maybe he gets it from me. Well, either way, I'm thankful that God has allowed me to be his mommy and I'm gonna blog about it!

I can so relate to your thoughts and feelings about these families with their huge circumstances in contrast to the petty things in life and everything in light of eternity. The blog world has opened my eyes to this as well. Thanks for sharing! Nathan looks so precious!
